The following is an overview of Supporters today and how it will unlock more opportunities in the future.
General Q&A
Let’s start with the basics…
- What is the value of Supporters today?
- Identify top groups of supporters based on relevant filters
- View individual supporter profile information
- Create Lists and Segments
- Export data to CSV
- View all Subscribers (not just those that fundraised, donated, or participated in a Challenge like the reporting in the old web app)
- What additional value will be available in Q2?
- Ability to create your own messaging journeys
- Ability to create Segments and Lists to trigger messaging journeys
- Who shows up as a supporter?
- A Supporter in the GoodUnited platform is anyone who interacted with a GoodUnited product or service, including:
- Messenger Subscribers
- Individuals who created fundraisers from our Grow pages
- Individuals who made donations to fundraisers to our Grow pages
- Challenge Leads
- Who does not show up as a supporter?
- Direct/organic and non-Grow page API fundraisers and donors who did not connect in Messenger
- What is the difference between a Segment vs. List?
- Lists are static and Segments are dynamic.
- A List is static and will not change unless you manually add/remove supporter(s) to the List
- A Segment is dynamic and will grow as supporters meet the defined conditions and shrink as supporters no longer meet them
- Ex. If you create a Segment for recently lapsed donors (condition = donated more than 12 months ago), a supporter would get added if they did not donate for 12 months, and then they would get removed once if they donated again)
- When should I use a List vs. Segment?
- Lists
- Lists are most commonly used for time-bound messaging campaigns
- Ex. I want to send a GivingTuesday message to supporters who donated more than $200 this year
- For reporting, Lists are often used to pull static information (e.g. I want a report of everyone who donated in February 2022)
- Lists are most commonly used for time-bound messaging campaigns
- Segments
- Segments are most commonly used for evergreen messaging flows
- Ex. I want to send a Birthday Coaching Journey to all birthday fundraisers
- For reporting, Segments are often used to pull dynamic information (e.g. I want a report of everyone who’s raised $500 in the last 30-days)
- Segments are most commonly used for evergreen messaging flows
- What are Recommended Segments?
- Recommended Segments are predefined filters that you can view, customize, and save as a Segment or List.
- Only GoodUnited team members (super admins) can create Recommended Segments
- Recommended Segments can be pushed to all or some nonprofits
- We are going to continuously add new Recommended Segments on a regular basis
- Can I use Supporters for Challenge reporting?
- Yes - select the Participated in Challenge filter and select specific challenge
- NOTE - only Challenges launched on the platform (e.g. use Grow pages) are currently available. Once we add data outside of platform data all Challenges will be available
- What data is included?
- Platform Data - any attributed revenue or Subscriber data since launch of platform
- All Time - currently working to add all time data (e.g. data outside of platform)
- What information is available in Supporter Profiles?
- Birthday (can edit)
- Age
- Gender (can edit)
- Address (can edit)
- Acquisition Date
- Last Interaction Date
- Total Lifetime Contribution
- List and Segments
- Mission Story
- Stay Involved
- Activity
- What is the difference between ANY vs. ALL for filters?
- All - displays supporters that meet all of the applied filters
- Ex.
- Donated >$500 and Mission Story exists will return supporters who raised $500 AND have a mission story
- Ex.
- Any - displays supporters that meet one or more of the applied filters
- Donated >$500 and Mission Story exists will return supporters who raised $500 OR have a mission story
- ANY is almost always less than ALL
- Donated >$500 and Mission Story exists will return supporters who raised $500 OR have a mission story
- How often are supporter segments refreshed?
- 15 minutes
- What revenue is included in the chart in Profile?
- Total Lifetime Contribution - all revenue the supporter has raised and/or donated all-time
